"It is important that organisations proactively think about the role of communications as part of their security strategies, and how they should means test them" - read my piece on crisis communications in the Spring edition of the City Security magazine here - https://lnkd.in/ezbnVdP
The role of communications is too often an afterthought, but by implementing robust mechanisms, such as how to respond to an incident, businesses can improve their resilience and reduce the potential impact of an incident.
It is also important that businesses don't assume that having people employed in communications roles means they're ready to respond to incidents. They can improve their effectiveness through scenario-based training.
There are also some really interesting contributions, including Figen Murray OBE thoughts on hashtag#MartynsLaw; Jason Towse piece on training and keeping up with modern threats; Adrian Canale piece on balancing security with community; The Security Institute, and many more...
